On Wednesday, Toyota unveiled the Aygo X Prologue Concept, displaying its aim to make a new-age fun A-segment car. The Aygo X Prologue will be the successor to the current Aygo.
The Aygo X Prologue is more extended and more towering than the standard Aygo and measures explicitly 3700mm in length and 1500mm in height. Its wheelbase is 90mm longer than the Aygo allowing the Japanese automaker to propose a roomier cabin.
The Aygo X Prologue has a slightly more bold design language than the conventional model. The automaker wanted to utilize a styling language that spices up the current appearance of the Aygo. The Aygo X Prologue Concept stands out due to its bi-tone colour scheme and forms a unique profile. The brand-new wedged roofline adds to the car’s dynamic character while appending to its sporty quotient.
At the front, the concept highlights high-tech lamps that mingle with the upper-hood and make a wing-like shape. Towards the lower limit of its front fascia, the skid-plates and fog lamps extend the large grille building on the hexagon theme.
The car’s colour scheme also reveals the automaker’s effort to spice up the Aygo X Prologue. The ‘sparkling chilli red’ colour scheme is the primary colour with blue metallic flake paintwork that complements the concept’s complete appearance.
Toyota has approved the Aygo X Prologue as a preview of a production car, but they confirmed they are working on a city car based on the equivalent TNGA GA-B platform shared with the Yaris. Aygo X is based on this architecture.
“Everybody deserves a cool car. When I look at the Aygo X prologue, I’m really proud to say that ED2 Team created exactly that. I’m excited to see it revolutionizing the segment,” said Ian Cartabiano, President, ED2. “With the Aygo X prologue, I believe we’ve demonstrated that a small car can still be big and bold in personality,” continued Ken Billes, Assistant Chief Designer, ED2.12
