In our previous post, we covered Toyota’s upcoming offering for the Indian automobile market. Recently. We have captured our very first glimpse of the 2020 Toyota Urban Cruiser SUV. This image is the world-exclusive image showcasing the true identity of the Vitara Brezza based Toyota SUV.
As mentioned in our previous post, the Japanese marquee has done a tremendous job at making sure that its latest offering stands differently and looks unique that its sibling car, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
Unlike the Maruti Suzuki Baleno based Toyota Glanza, Toyota has given its ‘version’ of the Vitara Brezza some unique exterior design elements like updated headlamps, alloy wheels and of course the front fascia, which not just bears the mark of Toyota, but also has design elements that remind of the hunky Toyota Fortuner.
But even with these design changes, the Urban Cruiser will be borrowing most of its parts & raw materials from the Vitara Brezza and will also be manufactured alongside – in the Maruti Suzuki’s Gurugram plant.
On the inside, the Toyota branded SUV will have a light coloured upholstery to make the interior look spacious and comfortable, but apart from that, it will likely have identical design, features & equipment as its sibling-cum-rival, the Vitara Brezza.
Pop the hood and the 2020 Toyota Urban Cruiser will be sharing the same 1.5-litre 105hp engine from its inspiration. This will be the only engine option available and will not be getting a diesel variant, just like its counterpart, the Brezza. Toyota will be offering a 5-speed manual gearbox and an optional 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with it.
But where the 2020 Toyota Urban Cruiser differentiates itself from the Vitara Brezza is the engine technology. Toyota will be offering its SUV with a mild-hybrid technology with both the gearbox options – unlike the Brezza, which offers the ‘SmartHybrid’ tech with its A/T only. Apart from this, the Urban Cruiser will also be getting a fuel-saving engine start/stop feature across its variants that will definitely help it in becoming an efficient & economical alternative to its rival.
Another great thing that Toyota is likely to be offering with its newest car is a 3-year/1,00,000 km warranty to woo the buyers.
Bookings for the 2020 Toyota Urban Cruiser are expected to open around 22 August 2020 and will see an official launch somewhere in September, this year. Because it is pitted against some well-established rivals, we can expect competitive pricing and initial offers to attract potential buyers.
